North Carolina FEW Conference

Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! The first Family Encouragement Weekend of the year was a smashing success. However, the enemy’s opposition was evident. We did have a “few” interruptions, unexpected medical complications, and other spiritual warfare, but “greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.” Once again good overcame evil! Each family left inspired to apply the truths of Scripture to every-day family life, and encouraged that we are not alone in the battle. Thank you Neely and Wilkes Teams for your labor of love and desire to share with others what God has done in your lives!

What a weekend! It was good to look over the pictures again and remember what God had done. I like the picture of us practicing singing, Donald; great perspective!

Thank you James, I really enjoyed preparing for and giving the chalk talk.
Another thing that I remember is talking with Mr. Wilkes just before we left. It confirmed something Matthew and I had been discussing regarding the “skill” of hearing from the Lord and applying specific Scriptures before a problem/need comes rather than afterward.
In an enjoy-now pay-later society it is refreshing to know that God can, through His Word, give us what we need for a situation ahead of time if we walk with Him and are attentive to Him.
Each week I am looking for how something the Lord gives early meets an unexpected need later in the week and it is a challenge.
For example though: this morning Dad said that James’ flight to Korea would be coming up and that he should check into the risk of radiation exposure over Japan. I said “Hm, we ought to do a study on radiation”. Then Jonathan brightened up and said “We have! That is what our Wisdom Booklet is about, the atomic bomb.” It was great. We’ll have to let you know what we find James.
God give us grace to follow Him in our learning each week and each day.
