Life’s Railway to Heaven

Aunt Vickie has always been an encouragement to me in my piano playing. The other day she asked if we would post a video of me playing something so I found this little clip of “Life’s Railway to Heaven.” Jonathan took it while we were staying at the McEntires house on our recent Florida trip. (The sneaky fellow didn’t tell me I was on camera!) I was rather out of practice after a long trip but it was fun nonetheless. I love these good “mountain hymns!” Here’s the first verse and chorus:

Life is like a mountain railway,
With an engineer that’s brave;
We must make the run successful,
From the cradle to the grave;
Watch the curves, the fills, the tunnels;
Never falter, never quail;
Keep your hands upon the throttle,
And your eyes upon the rail.

Chorus:
Blessed Savior, Thou wilt guide us,
Till we reach that blissful shore,
When the Angels wait to join us
In Thy praise for evermore.

    Sorry about that! There was a bug in the player. I think I fixed it. Does it work now?

    Remember singing that one evening in Nebraska?
    It’s so important that we see to it that Christ is our Conductor!

    Just thought of something. Have you thought of a doing a hymn a month for the blog? James does a picture a month…..

    Thank you, Robert. That hymn was one of our grandfather’s favorites… it was played at his funeral in January 09. His birthday was April 17… I think it is special that you posted this just three days after his second birthday spent with the Lord, and that this hymn in the one on James’ calendar for the month of April. This was a blessing!!

    Thanks, Robert! We have been in service ministering in “mountain churches” many times and the choir would stand up, literally throw their heads back, and shout this song to the heavens! I love the happy tune; it brings back sweet memories for me of the many campmeetings we have taken part in. Praise the Lord!
