Summer Guests

{pv} The girls in the garden. We have just concluded a wonderful ten days with the seven youngest of the {pv} The reward of much patience.Potter family. During this time Mr. and Mrs. Potter were in Sacramento for the ATI Regional Training Conference. Their son and daughters demonstrated a tremendous willingness to work around here.Their assistance was much appreciated from house cleaning to nailing shingles on the new shed. But much of the time was spent just getting to know each {pv} One of five games of Catan.other as we went on a scavenger hunt, picked blackberries, {pv} Boys night in the tent.visited the lake, played board games and croquet, and celebrated birthdays with ice cream and the 4th of July with sparklers an fireworks! One thing that especially encouraged me was the children’s desire to get up early enough to read the Bible with our family. Even when we were getting to bed late I was asked more than once to wake them up by 6:00 a.m. This hunger and thirst for righteousness is a quality I have always wanted to encourage in children and here they were motivating me!

In more ways than one our summer guests blessed us as they looked not only on their own Helping with the pizza!things, but also on the things of others. (Phil. 2:4){pv} Lighting our Sparklers.{pv} Celebrating our hard earned freedom.

What a lot of fun! Five games of Settlers?! Wow! And that dominoes stack must have taken a tremendous amount of patience. I’m sure this was an exciting week for everyone that won’t be forgotten for quite a while!

Actually, it was TWO games of Settlers and THREE games of Cities and Knights! I just wanted to assure you all on behalf of all the Potter children, that we really enjoyed that visit. We are all VERY grateful for the hospitality your family demonstrated and for everything we learned from you folks.

    P.S.
Forgot, hope you enjoy eating those blackberries,
I absolutely *LOVE* wild blackberries, the tame ones don’t have much flavor.

It looks like you all had way too much fun! Especially sleeping out in the tent. A verse I read today relates quite well to what your week was like: “There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.” You have found great joy in your work of hospitality.

Who could spend 10 days at the Staddon’s house and not have a simply fantastic time? The way you take the time to disciple amidst the joys and pleasures of life will continue to reap great dividends now and on into the future.
