A Mighty Fortress is Our God!

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever!

    I enjoyed your video. Especially the part where you recited the words to the hymn. That is one of my favorite hymns. It is one that you have to sing all of it to get all the rich meaning from. Keep letting the Lord use you Robert. In Christ, Brian

    That’s great! I like how it is played differently in each verse to reflect the meaning in the text.

    WOW!! The song was beautiful and I especially appreciate how the smile on the face of the musician brings alive the fact that God is truly his mighty fortress! A smiling musician communicates with much deeper meaning!

    Our LORD has truly blessed you with a talent that you use to praise Him!! This song is such a great
    description of who our God really is. We love this
    song, and were blessed when we listened to it. You play wonderfully, and the joy of the Lord shows
    on your face as you play. Were you thinking of the
    words when you played the song? It looked like you were more serious at times, as if concentrating on the music, or maybe the words of the song. We agree with Kathryn about communicating the messsage with your face. Thank you for sharing your video.

    I agree with all the former comments. A Mighty Fortess has enriched me often in my daily walk with God and I remember one time in Romania when the song came to mind, how surprised I was that I could remember the words to all four verses because they were so clear, and how inspiring it was to sing it to myself as I walked through the city.
