Character

Once defined, character qualities can be identified in real life situations and praisedHave you decided on any specific New Year’s resolutions yet? Maybe they would be easier to remember and apply if each resolution was connected to a certain character quality such as responsibility or truthfulness. Defining and recognizing good character is definitely a need at our time in history.

A couple weeks ago, here at Nan Jung Junior High school, I heard the wonderful news that a series of character announcements had been translated into Chinese. Like the school in Taoyuan, this type of thing is prepared so that students will have a daily reminder and encouragement to practice character in the daily situations they face.

The Lord still looks for those on whose behalf He can show Himself strong. He will reward each student and teacher in the successive fields of academics, sports and social relationships as they continue encouraging a solid base of character.

That is wonderful news! 🙂 Great idea to base New Year’s resolutions on character. Mine for 2008 would definitely fit under self-control! It was tough but I did pretty well. Resolutions are one of those things that usually fall through without the strength of the Holy Spirit. Just “turning over a new leaf” on my own very rarely works and usually leads to frustration. I haven’t thought of a resolution for 2009. Any ideas out there?
