Autumn Portraits
This was one of the most beautiful autumn seasons I had ever experienced. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Peak color usually lasts for a very short amount of time. During this period of a week or less, I was out taking pictures at every chance I had. Morning, as shown above, was where I got my best images.![]()

At noon, I had to be a little more creative. Objects other than foliage needed to be my main subject because of the flat lighting of mid-day.
In the late afternoon, things again became phototastic. Shadows, contrast, and color emerge once more. But it doesn’t last for long. Once the sun sets beyond the horizon, everything turns dull and gray; the once brilliant landscape is dragged into the desolate colorlessness of evening.
“Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice” (Psalm 55:17).
Absolutely beautiful, James! That last one was amazing, getting the sun through the leaf like that. Thanks for sharing!
great shots
beautiful…God’s given you a great talent!
All nature sings!
Glory to God for His Unspeakable Gifts!
Magnificent! Our Father sure makes all things beautiful in His time, even the “dying” of the landscape in the fall. I’m glad you didn’t give up after the prime morning light was gone – I think the one of the leaves in the water is my favorite – but it’s really not possible to have a “favorite” – like I said, He has a way of making all things beautiful! 🙂
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. It was a beautiful fall here too!
oh WOW!!!!..beautiful pictures.. Thanks for sharing!=)
I am amazed I was even able to take the pictures that I did. However, it was a relaxing break from work to get out and shoot. I love God’s creativity in nature with the changing seasons and am very privileged to be able to capture the small amount that is around me.
Nice, James! I love autumn and you captured the essence of it very well.
I like your photos too, James! They’re very vibrantly colorful! I like to take a little time to analyze your photos and see what makes them what they are.
Great pictures James!
Nice photography! The leaf with the light bursting through it’s center is truly superb.
