Mission project – Canada Adventure Day 5
Mr. Van Essen works for MSC
Canada. A school was closing down and donating its remaining desks, black boards and other equipment to this ministry. By 6:00 a.m. we were up and on the road and got a good days work in carrying the furniture and equipment from the
3 floors to the gym in the basement. This was a great
opportunity for us to work together and encourage each other to keep going cheerfully even after many tiring trips up and down the 6 flights of steps. We were sure to be back in time for Mrs. Van Essen’s delicious cooking. They quizzed our Canadian
knowledge over dinner. We learned that the national animal is the beaver,
the tallest building in the world is the CN tower in Toronto, and the Prime Minister is currently Stephen Harper. It had been a good final day. Robert, James, Daniel, Jonathan, Timothy, and I had one final pillow fight in the tent before drifting off to sleep.
Memories of that work day are great ones. It was so fun to be working together! It was invigorating to see all those energizer bunnies keep going and going. I wonder how far up we would have climbed if you added all those trips up the stairs together! It would be an astronomical number 🙂 We sure got tired, but that is not a bad thing at all. First make sure you are going in the right direction and then… keep going!
Back at the Van Essens we enjoyed the grandchildren and making the dinner meal special for everyone when they returned. While we were there I learned some wonderful lessons in how to be really hospitable!
That was a fantastic day! I loved the teamwork everyone showed both in moving the furniture and… in calculating the fastest way to do so! God truly did bless the work.
It was so neat to work together as a team to assist the needs of those in Zambia. Way to go guys!
Excellent summary David. I was glad to be a part of that team too. God bless you in your work today!
You’re family was a real encouragement to the rest of us. It was truly a pleasure to meet you and work with you for the day. How about coming to Zambie and unloading it all and installing everything in the schools there? It would sure make the job go quick.
