Visit From Virginia
Last week some friends from Virginia, the Wilkes, came. One of my favorite things was playing basketball knock out. Even though it was hard to win, everybody was a good sport and we all had a good time.
The Wilkes’ are also getting bees! So Michael taught them all about bee keeping. God blessed us with warm sunny days so we could go look inside our hives and see what Michael was talking about.
One night we played a big game of Settlers of Catan. We had two games going at one time! We thought up some really fun rules so we could trade cards between the two games. Helping the younger ones have fun really made everybody have a blast.
It WAS a blast! One thing Jonathan didn’t mention was that we played a few intense games of chess. I hadn’t realized Daniel and Matthew Wilkes were so good! I look forward to playing them again on later visits.
Several of us are pouring over the pictures and posts that seem to summarize such a meaningful and unforgetable weekend. We liked the picture of Daniel and James in motion with the flying basketballs. Everyone looked rather awake for 12:30 in the morning around those Catan games.
I sure enjoyed that Catan game except for ‘someone’, with extra diligent road builders, who blocked my longest road 🙂 .
Each one of us appreciated Michael’s careful preparation for the Bee Class. Markie is excited about helping out with beekeeping! He was helping us plan out our bee hive site on Friday.
