Daniel wins 1st place at the 2009 National Bible Bee!
Tonight, after two days of intense testing, Daniel won first place in his age group at the 2009 National Bible Bee! Thank you all so much for your support, encouragement, and prayers!
When Daniel first decided to enroll in the Bible Bee back in April, he wrote, “It does not greatly concern me whether I win or not. There is no way to lose! Studying God’s Word and getting to know Him on a deeper personal level will yield a lifetime of rewards and benefits far more valuable and precious than any amount of money!”
On his contestant page he reaffirmed this commitment, “We are all winners! … Hiding God’s Word in our hearts will continue to yield eternal fruit long after all monetary riches have ‘flown away as an eagle toward heaven.’ Let’s go!”
Daniel competes in the Finals, the top seven from each age group. . . .
His success brings him to the Top Three. . . .
Daniel takes first place!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Wow, praise the Lord, I actually thought he lost it when he said “the” two times in the tie breaking round. Great job Daniel.
I think he got some of the hardest texts. Ephesians is so hare for me. The sentences never seem to end.
It was a lot of fun watching you Daniel. =) May you continue to hide His Word within your heart. Great Work!!

Congratulations Daniel!!!! We are all so excited that you won. It is a blessing to know that you have the right perspective – that having God’s Word in your heart *IS* the reward.
We were all rooting you on over here!! It was such a great testimony to see the wonderful team spirit you three had on stage, in the midst of pretty stiff competition!
Congratulations!!! =)
Congratulations, Daniel! My sister didn’t make it to the final seven … so I was rooting for you. 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is such a wonderful accomplishment – may all glory be to God! Rejoicing with you and your family!
Wow! I still can’t believe it. I keep waiting for myself to wake up from a dream too good to be true!
And that certainly was great competition. (Especially breaking the ties between the last three. 🙂 ) Congratulations to Ellen and Truman! It really didn’t matter to me which of us won. You both were so encouraging and deserved first place as much as if not more than I did.
And congratulations to all the rest of you contestants who made it to the Nationals! That took dedication and effort. Keep up the good work!

How exciting!! Congratulations, Daniel!!!!
Congratulations, Daniel! The whole Parfitt clan were watching breathless online as you competed in the second round on. We were reading along, checking you and the others. You did so well! We are all glad you placed first, though all of you did excellently.
Great pictures, James! Thanks for sharing the inside experience.
By the way, folks, here’s a great post from Truman Falkner, who placed second: http://trumanfalkner.com/2009/11/07/oh-yeah-i-placed-2nd-at-the-bible-bee/
Daniel!!!! Thank you so much for being an example to me personally and for your love for God’s word, may God Bless you 100 fold in His Kingdom!
Go Daniel! we were cheering you on here in Chicago,
Keep up the good work and God Bless
We were glad to watch the finals in D.C. and my daughter enjoyed being one of the nationals, though she didn’t make it to semi’s or finals. It was tons of work and we are glad you could win. I was glad to hear you were heading to ATI to work possibly. We’ve taken in many seminars from Gothard over the years. Don’t you think you’ll miss the bee next year though? 🙂
Mrs. Mary Ann Martin (a contestant’s mom who was sitting next to your parents in the semi-finals as your dad followed along in his bible)
Congratulations, Daniel! That was incredible. I watched you the whole time in the semi-finals and finals. (I’m the one who asked you to sign my program just before you left the hotel.)
It’s funny what a small world it is—I play violin in an orchestra with Linda Jeffers, who knows your aunt. What do you think the chances of that are?
Thank you for all the intense work you did and your sowing of good seed for others in this event!! Certainly it is an accomplishment of highest magnitude when you embed God’s precious truth in your heart and life! We support and applaud your dedication to this goal!!
Bro! Congratulations! You are awesome and provoke me to love Jesus more! I was so honored to be in the top 3 with you! May the Lord bless you abundantly for how you’ve entrusted your heart to him just like David on the back hills of Bethlehem. With Love, Truman (P.S. I kinda snagged one of your photos for my blog, hope that was ok…)
Congratulations Daniel.

Daniel, What an inspiration!!!!! We shared this story with our children. As the first generation of children to grow up knowing God, we were proud to share your hard work and committment to God’s Word with them! Thank you and CONGRATS!!!!!!

Hey Truman, no problem about the picture. I’m glad to have been there to take it. (Talk about breaking news photojournalism! I was in heaven.) The three of you up there on that colorful stage was a lot of fun to take pictures of. 🙂 Thanks for commenting! And great post on your blog, by the way.
Congratulations! I am impressed that you let the Lord be honored and He took care of the rest.
